Asra Nomani

Asra Nomani is an American journalist born in 1965 to Muslim parents in India. She pursued higher education in the United States, earning a Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts from West Virginia University in 1986, followed by a Master of Arts in international communications from the American University in 1990. Her academic background laid the foundation for her career in journalism, which would take her to various parts of the world, including Pakistan.

Nomani's professional experience includes working as a correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, where she was based in Pakistan after the 9/11 attacks. During this time, she worked alongside colleague Daniel Pearl, who was tragically kidnapped and murdered by Islamist terrorists. Nomani later became involved in the Pearl Project, a faculty-student investigative reporting initiative that aimed to investigate Pearl's murder. As the co-director of this project, Nomani has been instrumental in seeking justice and uncovering the truth behind her colleague's death.
