Der Judenstaat

saggio di Theodor Herzl

Theodor Herzl is notable for his work in activism, particularly through his written contributions. One of his significant publications is the 1896 pamphlet, Der Judenstaat, which was released in February of that year. This work was published by M. Breitenstein's Verlags-Buchhandlung in both Leipzig and Vienna, and it presented a modern approach to addressing the Jewish question.

Der Judenstaat, subtitled "Versuch einer modernen Lösung der Judenfrage", was initially conceived as a speech to be delivered to the Rothschild family, under the title "Address to the Rothschilds". However, Baron Edmond de Rothschild declined Herzl's plan to present the work, citing concerns that it could jeopardize the well-being of Jews in the Diaspora and potentially threaten his own settlements in Palestine. Despite this, the pamphlet was still published, marking a significant moment in Herzl's activist efforts.
