Philippine Kaskele was a prominent figure in 18th and 19th century German finance, serving as a Court Jew banker. Born in 1742, she played a significant role in managing the financial affairs of the Court of Saxony. Her expertise and experience in banking enabled her to take on a key position, demonstrating her capabilities in a field dominated by men during that era.
Kaskele's most notable tenure was from 1788 to 1808, when she assumed the role of hoffaktoren, or Court banker, following her husband Jacob Kaskele. This period was marked by her son Michael Kaskel's minority, and Kaskele's leadership ensured continuity and stability in the Court's financial management. She continued to serve in this capacity until 1808, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of finance. Kaskele passed away in 1811, having made a lasting impact on the financial landscape of Saxony during her lifetime.
