Theodor Kramer

Austrian poet (1897–1958)

Theodor Kramer was a notable Austrian poet, born in 1897 to a family of Jewish origin. His life and work were significantly impacted by the events of the Second World War, during which he faced persecution and was forced to flee his homeland. Seeking refuge, Kramer relocated to the United Kingdom, where he would continue to write and produce poetry.

Despite his substantial poetic output, Kramer's work fell into relative obscurity following his death in 1958. However, in recent years, his poetry has experienced a resurgence in popularity, with many of his poems being rediscovered and reappreciated. Additionally, several of his poems have been adapted into musical compositions, further solidifying his legacy as a prominent literary figure in Austrian literature.
