Thomas Blatt
scrittore polacco
Thomas Blatt was a Holocaust survivor born in 1927. At the age of 16, he escaped from the Sobibór extermination camp during a prisoner uprising in October 1943. This daring escape, attempted by approximately 300 inmates, was a remarkable feat, although many of his fellow escapees were ultimately recaptured and killed by German search squads.
After World War II, Blatt initially lived in Poland until the Polish October. He later immigrated to Israel in 1957 and then settled in the United States in 1958. In addition to his experiences during the war, Blatt went on to pursue a career in business. He also became a writer and public speaker, sharing his memoirs and reflections on his time during the Holocaust. Blatt passed away in 2015 at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy as a survivor and a voice for those who experienced the atrocities of the war.
